What is the Best Thing about
Carafe Coffee?

Carafe coffee, in essence, means coffee that is brewed through the gravity method or with a drip coffee maker. Among all types of coffee, coffee from carafe or drip coffee is the most popular and widely consumed in the world.

One reason why carafe coffee or drip coffee is being consumed by millions of people around the world, apart from its aroma and flavor, is one of its immediate beneficial effects on the body, which is its unparalleled ability to keep you awake.

This is why most, if not all, coffee lovers start their day with a cup of brewed coffee.

This is why students, who are pulling an all-nighter to prepare for an upcoming exam, drink drip coffee while studying. This is also why office workers drink drip coffee during their breaks to keep their energy levels up.

Caffeine

Coffee contains caffeine, which acts as a stimulant. Caffeine changes the chemistry of the brain. To a nerve cell, caffeine looks like adenosine, a chemical that slows down nerve cell activity and associated with sleep.

Adenosine builds up while a person does activities during the course of the day. What caffeine does is it binds to the adenosine receptors in the nervous system.

However, unlike adenosine, it does not promote the cell’s activity to slow down, but causes it to speed up.

With caffeine taking up all the receptors that adenosine usually binds to, there is increased neuron activity in the brain. The pituitary gland senses this increased activity, and releases hormones that tell the adrenal glands to release adrenaline as a defense mechanism.

This is why after consuming a cup of coffee, you feel more energetic and alert.

Among all the types of coffee, drip coffee or carafe coffee is known to have the most amount of caffeine per cup. This is mainly due to how coffee is brewed using the gravity method with carafe coffeemakers or drip coffee makers.

During the coffee extraction process, water is heated to a temperature of 195° to 205°F and flows into a coffee filter that contains ground coffee. Water naturally seeps into the grounds and through the filter.

As the water stays in contact with the coffee grounds, it extracts its oils and essences, which give it the coffee’s appearance, flavor, and aroma.

And since it takes quite a while for all the hot water to seep through the coffee grounds and through the coffee filter, a cup of drip coffee contains a substantial amount of caffeine.

However, this doesn’t mean that coffee is an unhealthy drink. In fact, coffee has a lot of health-related beneficial effects.

Therefore, if you’re planning on moving on from instant coffee to brewed coffee, there are a number of coffee makers on the market that are both affordable and easy to use.

And since brewing coffee requires the use of ground beans, there is also quite a number of grind and brew coffee makers in the market, which allow you to benefit from having a coffee grinder and coffee maker in one compact machine.

About US | OCM Profile

OCM (OnCoffeeMakers.com) was started in 2007 with the first webpage about coffee machines. And for a number of years, we focused on helping people find their desired coffee machine (we still are helping folks with that! So, if you are looking for coffee machines for office or restaurants - check out the link).

In 2010, we started getting enquiries on restaurant marketing and we start to help food and beverage brands with their marketing. Below are campaigns and events that we have done over the years:

OCM's campaigns: F&B Marketing Ideas by OCM

OCM's Events: F&B Industry events by or with OCM

Check out this restaurant marketing guide to learn more about the many campaigns and companies we have worked with.

Since then, we have also created many marketing workshops and classes for the F&B industry. Many of these modules are still running in tertiary institutions such as Temasek Polytechnic Skillsfuture Academy and also ITE College East COC classes, below are some snippets of our lectures and workshops:
