Tim Hortons Singapore is a Canadian Coffee Chain?

Finally Tim Hortons landed in Singapore and opens in Vivo City. So, we asked our community (mostly coffee lovers), where Tim Hortons originated and out of 683 people that view this survey, 81 people gave their views. Out of it, only 46% of the respondents know that that Tim Hortons is a Canadian Coffee Chain.

Here are some numbers from the IG Poll

Number of people seeing it: 683 views
Singapore: 25 votes | 31%
United States: 19 Votes | 23%
Canada: 37 Votes | 46%

Here are some thoughts.

If the whole idea of franchising is to leverage on the brand equity of an established icon such as Tim Horton, would the 46% awareness bores well for this venture?
If they are not intending to leverage on the brand but to “introduce” a brand into the local market, what is the difference in value proposition compared to Starbucks, CBTL, or the many local coffee brands?
Additionally, if the ability to leverage on the brand is low, it is still worth your while to do franchising?
