For every Problem, there's always a Solution

If for every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction to it. Then for every problem, these is an equal and opposite solution to it. That is what Nestlé provides, a solution. During the most recent Cafe Asia in Singapore, we had the pleasure of meeting up with Nestlé Beverage Manager, Mr Oh Her Shiu, to find out more about Nestlé Professional, and the current coffee trend.

Over here at Nestlé Professional, their firm believe in providing a one stop solution to their consumers are what drives them, as Oh mentions, “we are here to sell a solution to customer, it is not the coffee bean, hot chocolate or soya bean.” With cafes popping up, the need for a good cup of coffee made fast is essential. Apart from speed, consistency is another key factor that Oh points out to be fundamental in the cafe scene. Thus, the new NESCAFÉ Milano Combi machine is set to address this issue of great cup of coffee, speed to serve and consistency. NESCAFÉ Milano Combi machine is capable of serving roast and ground coffee bean, freeze dried coffee with MRC (micro-grinds roasted coffee) insertion and premixes like hot chocolate, Japanese green tea and soya bean. In addition, it’s conical grinder would be able to have a consistent coffee grind size, and heat does not affect the grinds after heavy usage.

Apart from having consistent coffee, the new NESCAFÉ Milano Combi machine that Nestlé Professional is launching represent a great leap towards environmental sustainability. With its new induction heater technology, the machine is set to save up “close to 90%”, as Oh explains “ the coffee is only brewed based on demand, so when the coffee go through the heater it gets heat[ed] up”. The new induction heater technology is saving not just the earth, the beans would be saved from premature aging, as the heater is not constantly in use. Coffee beans are less likely to age as fast from the heat, as the heater is only activated on demand.

For those who are looking for variety and a one stop solution, the NESCAFÉ Milano Combi machine would be a great addition to suit the wide range of tastes of consumers. As the NESCAFÉ Milano Combi machine offers a great variety of drink selections. Along with the wide drink selection, users are able to customize their choice of milk, with the alternative of soy milk powder. It can suit consumers of any diet!

As one of the largest coffee roasters in the world, we had to know what Nestlé Professional’s thoughts on the coffee trend were. We asked Oh on his thoughts on the coffee trend in 2016, and he explains that the current trend he sees going around is the artisanal coffee like cold brew, and nitro coffee trend that draws many millennials. However, he notes that getting a skilled barista to prepare the coffee seems to be a detrimental task; and that is where coffee machine such as the NESCAFÉ Milano Combi machine helps alleviate such issue. Oh mentions that “we[he] foresee that there will be more and more human automated equipment coming to Singapore to help ease the operator”, this could mean that machines are now largely employed to help operators with consistent coffee preparation to address the high turnover rate in staffing which many in the industry is facing.

With a multi-cultured society like Singapore, coffee is not just coffee. This is a place where artisanal coffee meets your kopi-o, and so much more. Singapore is a melting pot, not just for food, but our coffee as well.
