Christmas Wonderland; what about the food choices?

It’s the most beautiful time of the year, or is it really?

Malls, and tourist spots around Singapore are all dressed up in Christmas decorations, since the start of December; one of the highlights of Christmas here on our sunny island is the Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay. This much anticipated festive carnival is now charging entrance fees for visitors, in contrast with last year’s free entry carnival.

With it being a christmas carnival, one might expect to try out different christmas food and beverages from around the world.

However, taking a look at the vendors set up for the carnival shows that, that might not be possible; as local cafes, and artisanal eateries set up camp at the carnival. Although they are selling various sorts of crowd favourites, but how can we capture the real spirit of christmas if the classic christmas food and beverages like Eggnog, Applebeignets or even Christmas Pudding.

However, they do have Dutch Pancakes, and Spanish Donuts (Churros) sold at the festive carnival, thus the european feel would still be there. Perhaps next year, we could have more festive food related to the event; and the only way to see if the food presented at the festive carnival can capture the essence of Christmas is to head down and check it out yourself!
