Messy but tasty

We have had a love affair with our old Tim Hortons coffee maker ever since we brought it home approximately 6 or 7 years ago.
Like us, it began to show its age and then started a continual boil cycle so it was dispatched to the great Bunn coffee makers heaven with our blessing.
We replaced it with a new Bunn Model BX_B and were unpleasantly surprised to have the water boil over the top of the filter when brewing a fine cup of Tim Hortons coarse grind using cold water input and Bunn filters.
It was replaced and the second similar unit is now doing the same thing after brewing 3 pots.
Everything is the same as our original unit except the spray nozzle has 5 holes instead of the three in our old one.
I am not a rocket scientist but feel coffee making should be a chore that even I can handle. I am looking forward to all comments that may solve my problem.
I am sure there must be a simple solution.
