Elegant Saeco Coffee Maker With Ceramic Carafe

Elegant Saeco Coffee Maker With Ceramic Carafe

Saeco is well known for its high-priced super automatic espresso machines. However, they have also released some stylish coffee makers. Here's one example of their stylish coffee makers.

It's the Saeco Venus Limited with Ceramic Carafe. It has all the basic features that a coffee maker should have: programmable timer, LED indicator, pause and serve, etc.

It's pretty expensive, probably due to its ceramic thermal carafe. It really looks good, and it will definitely stand out among your kitchen appliances.

Very Femmy!
by: Anonymous

I bought one used for a fraction of the cost luckily at a Goodwill(just pays to hit 2nd hand).
Beautiful appliance the lid has a thumb tab that you press to release the vacuum lid closure it broke off my husband is rough handed. I'm having a devil of a time finding a lid since this item has been discontinued! It works incredibly well and maintains the heat for hours! eBay has them now it you're lucky. I'm using my old corningware perk now in it's place. I collect vintage coffee makers! Wish me luck finding a lid replacement!

Vote With Your Feet!
by: Caffeine Addict

After reading all your comments, I'd say "Geez, what a bunch of winers" ... "or wieners" ... except that you are all absolutely right.

When the thumb lever broke, I took apart the lid and studied it for about 15 seconds. It was basically flat plastic. I looked in the garage for a piece of flat aluminum, and carefully cut it into the same shape.

Now, 5 years later, when the cheap plastic valve that the thumb lever actuates broke in half, I again opened the lid and studied the cheap (but yet more complex) plastic valve. I was able to rummage through the garage, find a sturdy piece of flat plastic (all my aluminum has been recycled) and rivit the 2 halves back together.

They don't sell parts because there is a cost to them to inventory them. The American way is to throw it away and buy a new one made in China. That is what they want you to do. Just don't buy Saeco, or any of their other brand names. Don't buy Maytag Amana either. I've had enough bad experiences with them to last a lifetime.

there will be lots of excited people today
by: jean

I just saw today's post and how nice he didn't go on Craig's list to sell his intact-working Venus..
I originally was going to give mine away to a nice couple in Indiana as the top broke suddenly but after reading someone's comment
one day as how they would brew the coffee without the lid
so I started doing that and after it brewed I could put the top on it and pour. So that's how I have been doing.
It does make a fabulous pot and I hope Indiana understands.

there is still hope
by: Grisel

Hello, like all of you love, y also love this coffee maker and after enjoying it for a few years of joy, my lid broke as expected even though I was extremely careful. Ever since then I hang on to the rest of my coffee maker hoping that one day I was going to find the replacement lid. And finally about a year ago I just let her go and give it to the GoOdwill thinking that somebody was going to find whatever spare part they needed for theirs.

Yesterday Strike of luck happened and I found a hole coffee maker functioning. A exact replica of the one I had and love. The best part of all: the lid is intact :)

....so keep your eyes open everywhere!!

***of course I clean the thing like if there was not tomorrow vinegar bleach and so many water rinses and now it runs like new

I also need replacement lid or carafe TDCMC1000
by: Anonymous

I just had the exact same experience as the last person to comment where the thumb pouring mechanism on the lid snapped off. The Saeco thermal carafe number is TDCMC1000, and while I thought I found a whole carafe available for $69 it apparently is no longer available. I too originally purchased mine from Starbucks, but mine is the plain white without the gold COFFEE written on it. Same carafe and parts though. Any help would be appreciated.

lid for the Venus Ceramic Pot made by Saeco
by: jean

Happy to find this site although by the comments it sounds like it will be a lost cause. I too have a lid problem as it overflowed this AM about 3 X... I kept thinking that something was blocked and would clean and clean and of course, to no avail.
I had to just pitch it as it is pretty and makes good coffee.
I think a spring in mine split and I was able to put it back but obviously that didn't work.
I have e-mailed Saeco as probably others have and I will wait to see what they have to say.

Thanks for all the comments...very helpful

We all obviously love coffee... I also have a Techniform Moccamaster that is an incredible pot that makes "hot" coffee and brews in less than 6 minutes... but I like to change off.

Great coffee maker, same problem...lever broke. I just used a short thick blade [with styish porcelain handle] butter knife, and slid it in over inner piece and it works fine...a longer, sturdier, for one hand, one thumb operation...It would be a shame to trash the whole coffee maker that works fine due to a minor setback. Peace with Coffee!
Update 11/14/14...ended up separating lid and removing broken lever piece and small rubber gasket designed to retain heat in carafe then cleaning interior about a year ago...any loss of heat to carafe is minuscule ...works fine.

Lid Lever
by: Rick

Yep, lid lever snapped off this morning to our dismay. My wife and I were evidently luckier than most as we've enjoyed ours for four or five years. Handy to know that there's no point in trying to find a replacement lid. May try to jerry-rig something like others have done. Guess it's on us! We were collectively stupid enough to accept the turning of our entire manufacturing base over to China. What could possibly have gone wrong?

Best coffee maker I own. I have hAd it for along time. Got it at Starbucks for $125. Best money spent. I bought a Keurig 3 yrs ago. Spent $200. Only use on holidays. Took my Saeco to a memorial for serving and set up the Kuerig at home. It lasted one day and lost power. I am looking for another Venus model for a backup. I am going to contact Starbucks and see if they can find me one. Have to have one. Never a problem. Just make sure the lid is one properly, and caffe is empty when making a pot. Love it!!

Lid Design Defect
by: John

Makes great coffee, but like others here I find the lid has a defect which on occasion and without warning allows hot coffee to overflow from the lid all over the counter. I have taken great care to make sure that everything is assembled properly, but still the problem arises unexpectedly and seemingly without reason. Burned myself today, so that's the last straw. Time to search for a coffee maker that also makes great coffee, but won't hurt me in the process.

How about buying a brand new one from Starbucks, taking the lid from it, then returning it with your broken lid? That sounds even right? Since there is no other way to get a legit replacement. I'd say they deserve it.

Linked Lid Not Right
by: Anonymous

The linked carafe lid in the comment right below mine isn't a Saeco carafe lid. It's black and made by Whirlpool, and doesn't seem to have a spout. I'm not ordering something I can tell isn't right!

I'm sad to see so many others have had the same problem with their Saeco Venus. We've got a saxophone reed jammed into ours, which keeps it forced open. I guess that's going to be a permanent solution until we can find another coffee pot we love.

Our lid broke only after 6 month of regular use but began having problems after the first brew. Unless we carefully clean the lid after each use the coffee overflows and goes all over the counter. It was a wedding gift so we felt obligated to use it. Its been a total peice of crap compared to the Mr. Coffee I had for 15 years with not a single problem. I wish we hadn't gotten rid of it for the new shiny Saeco that has been a total problem.

No replacement lids available
by: Anonymous

UGH!! I have had my Saeco for about 3 years but for almost a year I wasn't using it since it was in storage. The lever on my lid snapped off today and after an extensive search for a new lid, I discovered that they don't exist!! I can't even find the carafe. I got my coffee make as a gist but I know at the time it was $125 at Starbucks. I previously had a Krups which was ok but for the price of the Saeco and the quality of the REST of the machine, I expected better. From reading the comments though, it seems as if mine actually lasted a long time compared to some others. It's a bit unaccepatable since it is such a nice item otherwise and pretty pricey for certain parts on it to be so cheap. Wouldn't buy another one.

Beautiful Coffee Maker with a problem
by: J. Jeffery

love, our Saeco Venus coffee maker and have had it a year and a half. Now the top is broken, I have tried to search the internet and numerous phone calls but SOS, numerous recomendations but no one has it. I have snaped the top apart to clean it, it is a easy process. The Rubber O Ring at the bottom of the cap is the first thing removed, then pull the button and spring from the top out, turning it slightly as it comes out. the rest is just snaping it apart with a screw driver. Remove the contents that releases the coffee. (4 parts,, the rest of the thumb control, release, a spring and vacuum valve.)If you decide to do this you will also find the the inner release part that connects to the finger lever has cracks, and has warped as well. this would have cause you to push harder to get the wonderful contents within, which causes it to break. Reasembled the cap and it works fine. "Remember if you do this", there is nothing that will stop it from pouring out when you tip to pour, also I find its an eye sore if the carafe handle is pointed out when its in the coffee maker. Hope this will help. I myself love the looks of the Venus and hopefully Saeco will restore the faith we have in them to provide a good product with parts availibity. Until then maybe they will hear our cry and make new tops avaiable.

The lever on my carafe broke, too. I will go back to my Mr. Coffee rather than spend $60 plus for a new carafe. It seems that if and when you finally get through to customer service, the lid by itself is not for sale. What a surprise, right? Do not purchase this item unless you want to spend lots of $$$ for something that will last less than one year.

I don't recommend this. ALso difficult to clean.
