Krups auto drip coffee maker

by Lola Baker
(Colorado)

This little gem has been working perfectly for at least 10 years in 3 different kitchens, maybe 4.

This morning I am brewing my especial brew and looking forward to the wake up cup. It stopped. I get just 6 of my proscribed 10 cups and it stopped.

I remove the half filled pot, open the lid to the water reservoir and take a look inside. What to my wondering eyes should appear, but pieces of white tubing lying dead at the bottom.

The straw like tube running from bottom to top, the most important item needed to run hot water up and into the basket where the great grounds reside...yes, that tube is dried up, worn out and busted.

Well now I have to figure out how to replace it. Find one first, I don't even know what to call it...the little thingy that brings the hot water up from the bottom to the top after heating it to boiling...yes, that thingy.

I am looking, I have the pots model #PCE 1285000 and type #538, but I only know it by sight, not by a part name or number.

So, far only a guess, I found a site that shows me a picture of a white straw shaped part, it looks right, but they call it a water level indicator, no measurement to reassure me and no real direction as to how I can use it.

But, trusting me I order it...pay for shipping which doubles the cost for this unknown, but hopefully correct part.

Thank you for listening, maybe someone else can benefit from my experience. The pot makes great coffee by the way and if the part is right it will make me another pot soon!
