Are coffee pods the same as braun coffee filters?

This is a friend of mine who does not know anything about coffee asked me the other day as we were having coffee in a small coffee shop at town.

I told him that this is not the case as the coffee filter and coffee pods are a world apart.

The coffee filter is used to filter the water or the sediments from the coffee beans and the coffee pods include the coffee to use in a single serve espresso maker where it will be loaded in the machine and thus the delicious cup of coffee goes out.
