According to some coffee makers, a coffee pot can have an effect in the taste of coffee.
First of all, when brewing a coffee, the coffee pot must be clean. An unclean coffee pot will cause in a stale tasting coffee.
Basically, the old coffee remnants that are not cleaned in the coffee pot will mix with the fresh coffee you brewed, and this will greatly affect the freshness of your coffee.
So I suggest that you have to thoroughly clean you coffee pot before brewing your coffee.
I also read somewhere that there is also an effect if your coffee touches any metal part of your coffee pot.
What happens is that there will be some chemical reaction that will make your coffee less tasty. That’s why some coffee purists use a vacuum brewer in making their coffee.
All in all, I just suggest cleaning your coffee pot before brewing so that you will get a quality cup of coffee.
