Looking at the empty bed beside me, I know my beloved Grandma is at the kitchen busy with her daily routine. Wait!!! A familiar fresh aroma dances her way through the whole house... what is that? It is my grandma's perfect brew of stocking coffee... The aroma which I will not exchange or replace anything with... This aroma has kept me company for years with the tenderness of love infused in it...
My Grandma will wake up early in the morning to boil a pot of water. From her rusty looking tin, she will heave out 2 beautiful smooth spoonfuls of coffee powder ( bought from Malaysia ) and put them into the stocking. Thereafter with the boiling water, she will pour through the stocking and that is where the aroma starts to diffuse through the whole house. You like it sweet? dash it with teaspoons of sugar and there you are... a cup of black coffee ( in our local context, we call " KOPI-O ")- my simple way to welcome an extraordinary day...
This true story is dedicated to my Grandma who has passed away last June ( 2006 ). Her cuppa fragrance will always be there in the morning, her love brewed strongly in my life will always be that perfect cuppa that I will serve to all whom I love... Always remembering you Granny... Forever your cuppa fan..
