The History of French Press

The first patent issued for a coffee making device that resembles the modern French press was to an Italian man named Attilio Callimani in 1929.

So WHY did the name French press?

Many are saying that it was a French man who attached a fine screen to his coffee pot so he wouldn’t get grounds in his cup when he poured and many in France adopted the idea and word spread to other countries.

When it came to Italy, Attilio Callimani fine tuned and came up with the idea to patent it.

The French press is simple to use, affordable and turns out extremely good coffee and is superior to using electric coffee makers and other methods.
