Toots is interesting to me. It’s located in the historic Sultan hotel of the Kampong Glam neighbourhood. I had read up on chef Patron Jason Wong on their website and wanted to give his new restaurant a try.
It has an elegant, classy and quiet ambience filled with european inspired furniture and some lovely chandeliers. However, it’s not too intimidating that you won’t want to step in.
They have a good collection of wine all nicely displayed on a wall of wine racks.
My business partner and I ordered the Escargot, Foie Gras, Beef Cheek, Chilean Cod and a chocolate cake.
The Escargots and Foie Gras were very well done. They left a memorable impression and us wanting second helpings.
The highlight of the meal for me was the hot chocolate cake with ganache in it, what you will also term as lava cake.
The mixture of ice-cream (movenpick brand I think) with fruits on the cake was delightful . With ice-cream, cake, ganache, it’s surprising the sweetness was not over- bearing. Thumbs up for this chocolate dessert.
The meal took 3 hours plus which we slowly enjoyed.
