The Best Italian Espresso from a Cheap Pot

by Palo Coyote

Italian Espresso Pot

Italian Espresso Pot

In 1967 I was a Marine in Viet Nam. Assigned to a Helicopter Search and Rescue Unit, I was the rescue man.

We would have shifts at night when we were required to stay up for 6 hours and listen to the radio for fighter jet pilots that had been shot down.

My Mother sent me a very cheap little Italian Espresso Pot, I didn't even know how it worked. She sent lots of Espresso coffee too.

Well, one of my buddies had used this type of coffee maker so we put it together. Soon, all the Helicopter Pilots and even the people from the control tower would come around asking for a shot of our Italian Espresso.

It kept us awake at night and everyone just loved it. I still have that little pot and every once in a while when I want a small amount of Espresso I'll get it cooking on the stove.

Thanks,
Palo

Good to know it helps in war!:)
by: Janet

I like the story about how a simple moka pot help a band of army boys to stay awake and indirectly help us in our war effort.

We know that coffee is important, we just do not know that it is THAT important...
