Is the moka espresso maker strange?

Is the moka espresso maker strange? This is what I usually as myself everytime I make coffee from this strange contraption.

But I must say the even though it does not look like the regular coffee makers in the market, this stovetop coffee maker is very great at making good coffee.

I have been using this for a couple of years now and I must say that it has outlived all the electric coffee machines that I have had.

This coffee machine is very simple to use and very easy to clean, but the coffee it produces is very much above par.
