Group Therapy café is housed on the second storey of a restored shophouse along the gentrified Duxton Road. The levered windows and the postbox gives me nostalgic feelings. It reminds me of my gran’s old place near beach road.
As I entered the café, I could see simple and clean décor. The owners kept the shophouse’s feel very well including the roofing, lightings, and windows. There is a small book shelf at a corner which displayed some books and interesting knick knacks. I guess most café owners like to do that to reflect their own personality in their cafe.
Seating was fine but they were pretty close to each other so don’t expect to have private conversations or business meetings here. Service staff were friendly.
We ordered cheese cake, wedges, choc cake with ice-cream, hot chocolate, latte, poached sandwich, crab pie and shepherd pie…The shepherd’s pie is one of the better ones I had tried so far….and the crab pie is actually quite good too. Cakes were alright, nothing spectacular but it’s fine.
This cafe definitely brings back the memories I had while staying with my gran. I will be back for more just to soak in the atmosphere of the place, and also the shepherd’s pie as well.
