This is a survery done by Dunkin' Donuts in US, although I do not know how do they measure addiction, most likely by an interview.

Anyway, guess who are the most addicted to coffee?

Nurses

The survey also shows that workers are vert reliant on coffee to go through the day. 32% says that they need coffee to go through the day, and 43% say that they cannot work properly without coffee.

So, roughly half of our work force need coffee to perform.

Below are the ranking of professionals that depends on coffee, from most to least:

1. Nurses

2. Physicians

3. Hotel workers

4. Designers/architects

5. Financial/Insurance sales representatives

6. Food preparers

7. Engineers

8. Teachers

9. Marketing/Public relations professionals

10. Scientists

11. Machine operators

12. Government workers

Clearly, the work that is less stressful might not need coffee that much (note: government workers!!).

Interestingly, the coffee drinking population are getting younger. Remember the folks that say they cannot concentrate without coffee, their age range is between 18-34, 18 I thought is very young to be "Addicted" to coffee.

And these are also the folks that have more than 2 cups per day. So, Starbucks, Seattle Best, Coffee Beans and Tea Leafs take note -if you are doing any marketing, 18-35 is the group to target.

This is a survey perform from 17 August to 2nd September at a group of 3000 plus US folks.

So, which professions are you in, it is true with the rankings on the dependence to coffee?

And happy National Coffee Day! Today is 29th September, the informal holiday celebrating coffee!:)
