Alpenrost coffee roaster has many problems?

Writing about alpenrost coffee roaster is not easy. There simply was more negative press about this coffee roaster than good one. And at $200, it is not something that I would stake my reputation and highlight that it is okay to purchase.

As mentioned, there are plenty of bad press but not all are true. However, there are 2 of its weaknesses that have been widely circulated, so it is probably true. Here, we would show how one can mitigate these 2 weaknesses.

Alpenrost coffee roaster not being able to work at high altitude has been reported by many. So, how to solve this problem? Well, do not buy this if you are staying at higher altitude!:)

I guess there are strengths and weaknesses for all coffee roasters, and this altitude thing is one of alpenrost weakness that is difficult to mitigate.

Other than that, its inability to roast to the "2nd crack" have also been widely circulated. While it might be true, a simple adjustment to the roasting process would solve this problem.

The problem has it that aplenrost coffee roaster would only reach "1st crack" by 18 minutes, so with a full roast (by default) of 20.05 minutes, it is not possible to get into the "2nd crack".

But as mentioned, a simple adjustment would solve this problem. Well, simply shrink your roasting batch say into 3 ounce instead of the usual 8 ounce would allow focus more heat on the lesser beans and achieve "1st crack" earlier, thereby getting the "2nd crack".

Not all presses are bad. The alpenrost coffee roaster is consider one of the quietest roaster, a quality which I am sure you or your family would appreciate in the long run.

Then, as a drum roaster it is also able to achieve a more even and consistent roast. And it is one of the roaster which till now, has no complaints from first time user on its ease of use.

Perhaps it is due to its heating ability or calibration, one of the most reported strength about the alpenrost coffee roaster has been its work horse capacity.

There have been raving reviews on this fellow roasting batches of beans non stop for 6 hours. And that is certainly one value you want, when you are roasting personalized blends for your loves ones during the season holidays.

Sure, the alpenrost coffee roaster has problems, show me a coffee roaster that doesn't! But, to me, alpenrost strengths would be enough to redeem itself from its shortcomings, would you agreed?
